Using a Weight Loss Injection Pen

Managing obesity like the long-term disease it is requires more than willpower alone. Adding the weight loss injection pen to a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity may help you lose weight and keep it off.  

Injectables for weight loss come in the form of dial up , multi dose pre-filled pens  or as single use ampoules that have to be drawn up with a needle and syringe

 

Your doctor will teach you how to safely use these devices including storage and disposal

About the pen

A.Pen cap: Always replace it to protect the medicine from light

B.Dose counter: View and center your appropriate dose before use

C.Dose pointer: Arrow lines up with your selected dose

D.Dose selector: Turn it to select your dose

E.Dose button: Press and hold it to inject your dose

Parts of your single-use needle

The outer needle cap, inner needle cap, needle, and paper tab of a Saxenda® pen

Store new, unused pens in the refrigerator between  2°C to 8°C. After first use, store in a refrigerator or at room temperature between 15°C to 30°C. Pens in use should be thrown away after 30 days even if they still have any left in them. Don’t freeze it. A pen that has been frozen must not be used.
